René and Patty van den Berg

Tremele speaking with René and Patty van den Berg (November 2009)

René van den Berg is the second son of Rien and Wilma van den Berg living in de Oude Maasdijk. He has one brother (Willie) and one sister (Lucienne).

After the high school René attended the police-college. Hereafter he was on point-duty in Amersfoort and Utrecht. Meanwhile he met his wife Patty (from Beneden-Leeuwen). They took up their residence in Hurwenen and later on in Woudenberg.

During the last five years he was sporting instructor for the police-officers. At first his wife was working at the maternity welfare.
Later on she worked in a public nursery.

In the meantime they moved from Woudenberg to Veenendaal. There their children Sharon (now 12 years old and Tom (now 10 years old) were born.

After some holidays in Norway visiting every time another part of this country they decided to move to Norway in 2006. Through an agency they could take over the  Bǿflaten Camping in Vang. In May 2008 they started to work on the camping. It was a hectic period of adapting and working all the time.

Now they are settled. In the village the children visit the school. Also in the winter the camping is open. René: "We have 15 well- warmed cottages, a well-warmed
sanitary building with a central kitchen and a laundry and drying-room."

Before this time Patty and René did other activities. Patty worked in a nursery, whereas René had accepted a job as an attendant for

special activities.

Many friends and members of the family (also inhabitants of Dreumel) found already the route to the camping in Vang.
By car, by ship or by airplane.

René: "From Dreumel the distance is about 1600 km by car. But there are also different possibilities to make use of a ship. From a short distance between 150 and 250 km up to a long distance of almost 1000 km (Kiel-Oslo). Of course you can also make use of an airplane."

Winter
Meanwhile it is winter in Norway. René: "During a couple of weeks there is snow on the camping with a thickness of 40 cm. This is an ideal situation for the winter sports. The ski-area with the name Filefjell, at 20 km from the camping, is open from 14 november.

Besides ski-running you can also
cross-country skiing , walking with big foots under your feet (trugers) and of course you can make a trip with sledge-dogs. Training with the dogs has already been started again. It is very nice to go into the mountains with them.

The van den Berg family, inclusive of the children, are very happy in Vang. They do not like to return to Holland (even not for holidays)! And René finishes with the statement: "In the years to come you will not see us back!”

Patty and René send their greetings to all their friends. If you are looking for a nice camping address you are very welcome!

Tremele wishes Patty, René and their children a very happy time!
